변산, 풍경이 된 플라스틱

이 작업은 자연재료로 자연현장에서 작업하던 작가에게 늘 신경쓰이던 플라스틱이 인간이 만든 재앙이긴 하나, 이미 사람에 의해 자연화 된 풍경이라는 것을 보여주고자 한 작가의 <Sea-scape>프로젝트의 일본 규슈, 부산, 서산에 이은  네번째 설치이다.

우리 삶은 플라스틱에 너무나 의존하고 있고, 그 의존을 대체할 기술이 부족하다면, 적어도 보아야 한다. 인식은 불편함의 시작이며 불편함은 변화의 시작이다.

2024년 봄 변산해변의 해안선을 따라 걸으며, 지형의 모양과 바다, 사람들, 그리고 그곳에 숨어 사는 많은 생명들, 또 숨어 자연이 된 플라스틱들을 만났다.

Sea-scape, Bunsen

This work is the fourth installation of the artist's <Sea-scape> project, following installations in Kyushu, Japan, Busan, and Seosan. it aimed to show that plastic, which had been a concern for the artist who worked in nature, is a man-made disaster, but is also a landscape that has already been naturalized by humans.

If our lives are so dependent on plastic, and we lack the technology to replace it, we must at least see it. Awareness is the beginning of discomfort, and discomfort is the beginning of change.

Walking along the coastline of Byeonsan Beach in the spring of 2024, I met the shape of the terrain, the sea, the people, the many living creatures hiding there, and the plastics that had become hidden and natural.
