Leaves Leave

_Artist note

2018년 버전의 The Forest of Strayer 시리즈 迷遊森林

The title of this work in Korean is A Forest for Those Who Float.

This project, consisting of leaves that have fallen onto the street overnight, thin steel wire, sounds from the street in the early morning, motion sensors, and water drawings on the floor, was installed at 1/2 Space in the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei.

(En route to the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, where the artist participated in a residency exchange organized by the OCI Museum of Art in Seoul from June to July 2018): By moving the fallen leaves from the street to the studio every morning and installing them in the exhibition space at the museum, I made their passing time pause in a unified space for a moment. People’s attitudes toward leaves that remain on trees and those that have fallen are remarkably different. Aren’t the leaves that are swept up and put into garbage bags moving instead of dying?
