The Forest of Strayer from Jara Island; The Space 36

In my memory, Jalasum was a forest of small Island which is full of many different plants on the river.

I saw a heap of branches on the cold flower after they lost land by human.

How cold…  How horrible… How sad…

I made a forest for them on the water to look their original figure what the end of branches forwarded to sky.

This is “ The Forest of Strayer” which is float on the water without roots.

When Spring come, so the ice turn to water, they will start their long and hard journey.

The weak and feeble branches connect together without roots to be their own forest and fight against strong winter wind.

For remind your lost forest.

터 잃은 이들의 숲; The Space 36

자라섬에서 잘려나간 나뭇가지

내 기억 속 자라섬은 물위의 작은 땅에 여러 종의 나무가 빽빽이 들어찬 숲이다.

인간에게 땅을 내어주고, 바닥에 누워 쌓인 나뭇가지 더미가 춥고 처참하고, 슬퍼서…

본래 그 끝이 하늘을 향했을 모습대로, 땅이 아닌 물 위에 그들만의 숲을 만든다.

뿌리 없이 물 위를 떠 있는 이것은,

‘터 잃은 이들의 숲 : The Forest of Strayer’ 이다.

봄이 되고 얼음이 물이 되면 다시 그 길고 고된 여행을 시작하게 되겠지.

이 작고 약한 가지들은 뿌리 없이 서로에게 기대어 겨울의 모진 바람을 맞고

물 위에서 그들만의 숲이 되어 당신의 잃어버린 숲을 상기시킬 것이다
