The Seat of Water Rise

_Artist note

Winter on the Bukhangang River

Water rises.

Earth softens and water from the frozen earth rises to the sky.

Among the five trees and their branches that surround the rock of the land deity, earth filled with water rises to the sky.

Water is like a thread that connects the sky and the earth.

When the earth’s water reaches the height of the the branches, spring comes.

When the frozen Bukhangang River flows and water rises to meet these barren branches, why do I wait for spring to come by connecting to this place?

I wonder whether the spring we have waited for is indeed coming. I touch the earth and branches and link them with thread as if praying. (2016)
