On Chuseok, under considering taking photos about scenes of the harvest holiday, having moved from this room to the others, I took pictures about various food, visitors, preparing people, and others talking each other. At that time, I noticed the grandmother lying down on the floor in a small room, who had looked tired because she always took chores despite poor condition. Her face seemed as if her exhausted body and bedclothes had become one, and looked slumbering and comfortable beyond expression. It could seem that her body melted into the soft cotton bedclothes on the floor. The pure cotton wool of loose texture was transparent. It was shown like putting on, or existing a whole bedclothes itself linking naturally each part of body with a cotton bedclothes.

Her appearance seemed to be a one hundred-year-old woman. She has libed a long and toilsome life and obeyed such that. Therefore one accepting without resistance might take that relaxing and comfortable moment like her.

어느 추석날, 카메라를 들고 추석의 풍경을 찍겠다는 생각으로 방방 마다 옮겨 다니며 차례음식들과 손님들, 준비하는 사람들, 담소를 나누는 사람들을 찍은 적이 있다. 그때, 작은방에서 혼자 좋지 않은 몸으로 집안일을 건사하느라 지친 몸을 뉘고 계신 할머니를 발견하였다. 바닥에 깔린 솜이불과 하나가 되어버린 듯, 그녀의 표정은 곤함과 동시에 말로 표현하기 힘든 편안함을 짓고 있었다. 바닥에 차분히 깔린 솜이불 위로 그녀의 몸이 녹아 부드러운 솜이불이 되어 버릴 것 같았다. 올이 성근 광목에 순도 100%의 목화 솜이 비친다. 인체의 부분 부분과 솜이불은 자연스레 연결되어 이불을 덥고 있는 듯, 이불 자체인 듯 하다. 그녀의 모습은 마치 한 백세를 넘겨버린 여인 같다. 길고 고단한 인생을 살았고, 그 삶을 순응하며 받아들였고, 모든 것을 저항 없이 받아들인 자가 가진 평안과 휴식을 품은 여인의 모습이다.
