몇 년전 일본에서 만난 치매를 앓고 있는 할머니..

그녀의 얼굴이 너무도 그 마을과 닮아 그녀를 그리고, 광목에 바느질한 작업을 했다.

매년 그곳을 지날때마다 그녀를 찾아 눈으로 인사하고 눈으로 말하다가

어느 9월 그녀의 집을 다시 방문했을때, 그해 봄 그녀가 잠속에서 떠났다는 말을 전해들었다.

아주 편안히 떠나셨다는... 그녀를 기억하기 위해... 다시 그녀의 얼굴을 그려본다..

2008 가을 Kim Soonim

Many Years ago, I have met an old lady in Japan who had dementia.

Her face bore a close resemblance to the town where I met her.

So, I drew her and did needlework on cotton cloth.

Every year, whenever I had chance to pass by the town I tried to greet and talk to her with my eyes.

And in September, when I visited her house again, I heard the news that she passed away last spring while sleeping.

I created her face again to remember her, who left this world in peace.
